Our Story

Eersterust Youth Development Movement

Eersterust Youth Development Movement (EYDM) is a youth-led non-profit organisation committed to uplifting and empowering the young people of Eersterust and surrounding communities. We exist to create opportunities, drive social change, and build a generation of proactive leaders who are equipped to transform their lives and their community

We believe in action over words – mobilising youth to take charge of their future through skills development, employment readiness, environmental sustainability, and communitybuilding initiatives.

Our Key Initiatives

Go Green: Community Clean-Up Drives

Promoting environmental sustainability by organising regular clean-up campaigns, treeplanting days, and awareness drives to beautify Eersterust and inspire a culture of environmental care.

Skills Development & Learnership Programmes

Partnering with organisations and businesses to provide learnerships and training opportunities that prepare young people for the workplace and entrepreneurship.

Workshops & Youth Empowerment Sessions

Hosting workshops on job readiness, CV writing, interview skills, leadership, financial literacy, and small business development to help young people unlock their potential.

Employment & Job Placement Support

Creating pathways to employment by connecting youth with businesses, facilitating internships, and preparing them for job market success.

Community Engagement & Events

Hosting youth expos, heritage celebrations, voter education drives, and other community events to foster social cohesion and civic responsibility.

Programme Collaborations

EYDM actively partners with leading organisations to enhance youth development and expand access to opportunity

Built Africa & Sport for Social Change Network Africa (SSCNA)

In collaboration with Built Africa and SSCNA, EYDM implements key programmes aimed at empowering unemployed youth through structured community and sport-based initiatives.
The Community Cleaning Team Project offers participants hands-on training, community service experience, and a monthly stipend as they contribute meaningfully to improving their environment.
Through SSCN’s sport-based development programme, youth are engaged in structured activities that build leadership, discipline, teamwork, and social change awareness — using sport as a tool to transform lives.

Eersterust Aand Skool

EYDM works in collaboration with Eersterust Aand Skool, a Matric Rewriting Centre, to support young people who want to improve or complete their National Senior Certificate. This partnership ensures access to quality tutoring, study materials, and a second chance at academic success.
